UV, Oxford and Norwich all handed a loss
GREENE – A slow start between the host Trojans and the Eagles of Deposit/Hancock became a 55-40 Midstate Athletic Conference win for Greene.
The Trojans, who were led three players scoring in double figures, led 10-6 after the first quarter but put together an 18-point run in the second to take a eight point advantage into the locker room at the half.
In the quarter, Drew Erickson of the home team tallied the first five points with two made free throws and a 3-point bucket. Erickson then drained two more from beyond the arc to pace the Trojans in the stanza with 11 of the team’s points.
The Greene eighth-grader didn’t stop there. Opening the third with his fourth made 3-point field goal, Erickson jump started another run that helped the Trojans pull away for good. He finished with a game-high 18 points.
Both Evan Walters and Alec Frair also recorded double figures in the win for Greene. The two veteran Trojans spaced their scoring throughout all four quarters as Walters ended the night with 12 and Frair registered 11.
Deposit/Hancock was led by Jacob Dobromirescu’s 13 points while teammate Caleb Parker chipped in 11 in the loss.
Greene is now off for a week and will take on Afton for their first game after their long break on Friday, January 24.
