AFTON – Despite starting off the match down by 12 points, the Bainbridge-Guilford-Afton-Harpursville Bears captured the Midstate Athletic Conference divisional crossover dual meet win over the Greene/Oxford Blackhawks 46-33 Wednesday.
The Blackhawks Abram Parsons and Noah Kennedy received forfeit wins at 182 and 195 pounds to take a 12-0 lead after the first two matches.
The Bears, however, quickly took those 12 points back with pinfall wins by both Rocco Arduini and Timmy James. Arduini pinned Greene/Oxford’s Davis 33 seconds into the second period while James needed just 40 seconds to pin his opponent, Skyler Graves.
Adding Darren Florance’s forfeit at 99 pounds and Joey Florance’s 1:34 pin over the Blackhawks’ Owen Marcin, BGAH quickly took the 24 point swing into their favor and held on for the remainder of the meet.
Kaden Wakefield picked up a 5-4 decision over the Bears’ Jose Bivar to end the home teams winning streak during the meet but back-to-back pins for BGAH’s Jacob Terpstra and Dylan Decker extended the lead to 36-21 with six matches left in the meet.
