NORWICH – For the past several years folks have gathered on Christmas evening to have fun and a nice get together with friends and neighbors.
This year’s event was held at Rita’s Tavern in Norwich, but it almost didn’t happen.
Organizers Ryan Revoir and Johnny Kampe got a very slow start on the event this year and it was doubtful it would take place in time. In a casual discussion about the event, the owners of Rita’s enthusiastically encouraged them to have the event once again and to have it at Rita’s.
So, on the evening of December 25 the bar was open, and the fundraiser took place.
Throughout the evening music was provided by “Upstate Events,” and as organizer Ryan Revoir said, “People just came out, perhaps after a hectic and busy day at home, or just so they would not have to spend Christmas alone.”
About $600 was raised by the bartenders donating all tips, a 50/50 raffle, and even an additional donation by Rita’s owners Adam Bosworth and Mike Hayes. These funds have been donated to help support the Chenango County Relay for Life.
Ryan and Johnny want to extend a special thank you to bartenders Randy Heuer, and Justine Ferguson and of course, Adam and Mike for making this event possible. So put December 25, 2020 on your calendar and join us for the next Christmas Classic at Rita’s.
