NORWICH – On a special night where Norwich head coach Kevin Diefenbacher honored his seven seniors set to graduate in June, the Purple Tornado swimming and diving team captured their second win of the season, defeating Sherburne-Earlville 93-54 in a non-league meet Monday.
After the diving event, which senior Matt Giglio took first with his scored of 199.95 for his six attempts, Griffin Frank, Giglio, Ayden Hagar, Zac Marsh, Dakota Spina, Jack Sherry and Cameron Pittsley were recognized with the parents, family members and friends on hand.
Following the special ceremony, Norwich got down to business as they won all but three events. The Marauders Amon VanAlst took wins in two of the three event, coming in first place in the 200 yard individually medley and the 100 yard breaststroke – which came down the last push for the S-E swimmer as Norwich’s Ryan Loeffler was right there.
VanAlst was also a part of the 400 yard freestyle team of Sherburne-Earlville that won. He was joined by Emma Crespi, Rebecca Karaman and Josh Larcher in the victory.
