OV scores big against Poland; Oxford and B-G downed by MAC foes
NEW BERLIN – With just eight seconds remaining in the Thursday night matchup, Morris’ Jake Goodspeed pulled down an offensive rebound and put the ball back through the rim to give the visiting Mustangs a one point lead over host Unadilla Valley. Unable to come away with a game-winner, UV fell in the non-league battle 56-55.
At the end of the third quarter of play, the Storm trailed by six points. It was the first time in the contest that the home UV team were behind at the conclusion of a stanza and it was the largest lead held by either team in back-and-forth clash between the neighboring towns.
Unadilla Valley went into the halftime break leading 24-22 but Morris came out of the locker room on fire, tallying 23 points in the third quarter to take the six-point advantage.
In the final quarter of play, the Storm’s Caleb Parker took control of UV’s offense. The three-year senior of Unadilla Valley went a perfect 6-for-6 at the foul line and scored seven points from the field – three of them coming from behind the 3-point arc – to pace the home team and bring them back into the game.
