EARLVILLE – The Earlville Opera House is pleased to present an afternoon full of fun and shenanigans on Sunday, March 15 at 3 p.m. with Tumbleweed Gumbo in the Arts Café - right in time for St. Patrick’s Day.
Event organizers invite interested individuals to come party Irish style with Tumbleweed Gumbo and sing along to your favorite Irish ballads while getting your jig on.
Organizers asked, have you ever imagined yourself in an Irish Pub, joining in on those old rowdy songs about the Wild Rover and the Star of the County Down? Imagine no more! With Larry Jordan leading the charge, we’re gonna have a rollikin, swollikin bold old time belting the choruses of Bold O’Donoghue, Black Velvet Band, The Rising of the Moon and many more.
Sure, you can just stomp your feet, clap your hands and hoot as Central New York legend Liz Fiddle shreds Irish, Scottish, Quebec and Cape Breton fiddle tunes between drinking songs (with a little help from Werner Koegst on bass, Steve Blais on bodhrán and button accordion), but we’ll make the singin’ easy for yez with lyric sheets and unconditional love for whatever comes outta yer gob!
You may know them from playing Cajun, Celtic and Country music at the Sherburne Arts Festival, Ray Brothers BBQ, or Good Nature Tap Room; but Tumbleweed Gumbo has turned into Tumbleweed O’Gumbo for seven consecutive years of Saint Patrick’s Day blow-outs at the Verona VFW, and closed the standing-room-only festivities of Cazenovia’s McCarthy’s Pub’s very first St. Patrick’s party.
On occasion, they sip the single malt and sport a bit of tartan as Tumble the Haggis for Burns Weekend at the Brae Loch Inn. O’Gumbo members all love singing, but Larry’s lifelong passion for singing about the grog makes him our song leader for this raucous afternoon event.
Central New York’s most sought-after fiddler and admired vocalist, Elizabeth Simchik, known to many as Liz Fiddle, adds an inimitable spark to the proceedings, and is ably supported by Werner “the rock” Koegst on bass and Stevie “blue” Blais on bodhrán, button box, guitar and vocals. Join us to sing along and kick up your heels Irish style!
