CHENANGO – A new respiratory disease called coronavirus 2019 (COVID -19} has occurred in the United States including New York where the numbers of persons under investigation and confirmed cases are increasing.
Consistent with guidance from the New York State Department of Health and the Governor's Office,New York State Department of Motor Vehicles has adopted a policy of reservation-only for State run offices.
In order to reduce the possibility of the spread of COVID-19, Chenango County Clerk Mary Weidman has instituted this policy for reservation- only for service in the Norwich Office of Chenango County Department of Motor Vehicles, effective March 18, 2020. Customers can make a reservation by calling the office at 607-337-1460. All walk-in customers will be provided information about booking an appointment and be asked to schedule a time for service.
The DMV encourages customers to visit the office only if necessary. If a customer's transaction does not need to be completed right away, the DMV advises customers to wait.
"Our first responsibility at this time is to provide safe working environments for our staff and residents who utilize our DMV services. Today's announcement will allow us to continue to provide these vital services for our residents, while promoting the needed social distancing recommendations of NYS Department of Health."
