NORWICH – City of Norwich Mayor Shawn Sastri discussed the coronavirus at Tuesday night’s closed to the public common council meeting, along with what his office is doing to help slow the virus’s spread.
At the meeting representatives of the Chenango County Emergency Management Operations Center also discussed how the volunteer-based quarantine only works if everyone follows those rules, and that the best practice would be to act like everyone may be infected.
“To the residents of Norwich, we are in a period of uncertainty, but I am extremely proud of the coordinated efforts between the City of Norwich and the Chenango County Emergency Management Operations Center for daily communications to the residents and city personnel during this ever changing environment,” said Sastri. “I would also like to thank all of the city employees for their hard work and take a moment to discuss some key updates.”
“First, as our residents continue to hear about changes to schools, businesses, and community events and programs, please rest assured that our fire department and norwich police department will remain open.
Second, to keep our residents and staff safe, we have taken steps to reduce traffic to city hall and we ask that you submit payments online, at our dropbox located in front of city hall, or mail payments to one city plaza.”
