Don Chirlin, right, receives his Norwich Sports Hall of Fame plaque from Jim Edwards during the 2018 ceremony. Chirlin passed away Saturday, April 25, 2020 after a brief illness. Often times, he could be seen in the stands at a Norwich football or basketball game over the years. Chirlin was a three sport athlete for the Purple Tornado and later became a social studies teacher as well as coach for both basketball and football for the district.
