Sherburne – Mountain View Gardens is a family-owned greenhouse operated by mother and son, Tammy Simpson and Derek Gager. The shop is located at 105 Mountain View Drive in Sherburne. Derek followed in his mother’s footsteps and has a degree in horticulture.
He said the business recently put up a new building to add a retail shop to the site, as well as expand their inventory.
“Something that we've taken on more recently is quite a bit more houseplants, where in the past we did mostly gardening stuff, annuals, and veggies. But now we have an entire green house for indoor plants, succulents, that type of thing,” said Derek.
Gager said the shop is currently short handed due to the pandemic, with just him and his mom running things. However, the focus of the shop is still and always will be high quality plants and customer satisfaction.
Mountain View Gardens is giving away a free plant with each hanging basket this weekend to celebrate Mother’s Day. The baskets are mainly outdoor flowering plants, selected because they will bloom and grow all summer, until a strong frost. The business will also give away a free basket in a drawing at the end of Mother’s Day.
“We have a high standard for the quality of our plants. We focus on customer satisfaction and do anything we can do make sure they have a good experience. We tend to go out of our way to keep everybody happy,” said Derek.
Mountain View Garden is currently open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Keep a safe social distance and other health practices put into place by New York, including the wearing of a mask, is required for customers.
