NORWICH – From 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 21 at the Norwich YMCA, Helping Hands Norwich will be hosting a community donation night.
With social distancing still in practice, this event will look different from donation nights held in the past. The community is invited to drive up or walk up to the community room doors of the YMCA where each family can receive a women's hygiene bag, a men's hygiene bag, and a food bag. Due to limited supply, only one of each bag bag per family will be provided.
Norwich Helping Hands Director Lorri Race and five volunteers will be wearing gloves and face masks during the event. Race encourages the people coming through the line to also wear face masks to help keep everyone safe.
Hygiene bags will contain things like shampoo, body wash, and toothpaste. Food bags will contain non-perishable pre-packaged food such as boxed mac and cheese, granola bars, and soup. The organization will be handing out free face masks as well.
