NORWICH – On Thursday, SUNY Morrisville Norwich Campus, along with Helping Hands Norwich, worked together to provide food and essential items to over 450 Chenango County resident during the second local drive-thru distribution day.
Cars began filling the parking lot of the Chenango County fair grounds at 12:30 p.m. for the event which wasn’t scheduled to start until 2 p.m. Once the gates were opened, cars lined up with their trunks open to receive items such as milk, yogurt, potatoes, and hygiene products.
The SUNY Morrisville Norwich Campus Student Government Organization, along with community volunteers, filled the cars with dairy products and fresh produce. The cars were then directed to the Helping Hands station to be loaded with male and female hygiene bags and non-perishable food bags.
Helping Hands Director Lorri Race said, “We have over 700 bags to give away. It’s just incredible. So many people contributed and we’re so thankful.”
