NORWICH – The Chenango SPCA has seen a notable increase in adoptions as compared to last year.

CSPCA Executive Director Annette Clarke said, "The year to date adoption rates between last year and this year are pretty significant with 2019 being 180 and 2020 being 227."

Last month 30 cats were adopted from the shelter and 37 were surrendered.

Clarke said the increase could also be due to the Safe Haven Fund for Animals, a fund the covers the full cost of adoption.

The shelter has also seen a decrease in the number of strays and surrenders coming in.
