NORWICH – At the start of the coronavirus outbreak, UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital pushed pause on its popular monthly Women’s Health series at Bohemian Moon. Now, the Norwich hospital is relaunching the series of informed conversations – via Zoom.
“We’re taking the series virtual,” explained Melissa Stagnaro, Director of Fundraising and Business Development at UHS Chenango Memorial. “From the beginning, this series has been about starting a dialogue. While we can’t meet in person right now, we’re grateful to be able to use Zoom to connect and learn from one another in a new way.”
Over the last three years, the hospital has hosted close to twenty events through the series on topics ranging from heart health and healthy habits, to pre-diabetes and arthritis. The virtual series will kick off with a particularly timely topic: Virtual Visits.
“We are very fortunate to have Dr. Kurt Harding, our Primary Care Medical Director, presenting on this topic, which is so relevant right now,” Stagnaro said.
The presentation will take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23 via Zoom.
“Even though COVID has been demanding everyone’s attention, attending to your own health needs is still very important. With Virtual Visits, we can address a wide range of your health care needs from the safety and comfort of your own home,” Harding said.
According to the primary care physician, telemedicine was first used in the 1960’s during the first manned space flights.
“It’s no longer rocket science,” he said. “It is a fairly simple and straight forward process, and I’m looking forward to this opportunity to explain how it works, when virtual visits make the most sense, and dispel any trepidation patients may have about a virtual consultation with their provider.”

According to Stagnaro, the virtual series will continue through the summer and into early fall.
“We’ll be back at Bohemian Moon as soon as it’s appropriate to do so,” she said.
