NORWICH. – Thanks to a generous grant from the Documentation & Heritage Preservation Services for New York (DHPSNY), the Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS) recently completed a new strategic plan, shifting its focus from not simply just a curator of local history to a community partner, an educational resource, and a regional destination.
The museum's reaffirmed mission - to lead and support the advancement of research, education and enjoyment of Chenango County history - will guide the organization for the next four years.
CCHS will be developing opportunities to accomplish goals identified in the strategic plan, and is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Operations Manager.
The successful applicant will manage and improve all aspects of operations, be familiar with general accounting practices, and contribute to collections curation, exhibit preparation, facilities management, financial administration, retail, front-of-house, and office management.
The Operations Manager will work closely with the Executive Director to set priorities and to ensure successful fulfillment.
“Our current situation has provided new opportunities to carefully consider how we approach our mission,” said Jessica Moquin, CCHS executive director. “Over the next few months, we plan to continue making adjustments in our programming, policies, and procedures. Bringing on an Operations Manager will allow us to adapt and better serve our community.”
An application form and complete job description for the Operations Manager position are available on-line at: www.chenangohistorical.org/jobs email inquiries only, please.
First established in 1939, CCHS received an absolute charter in 1956. Ward School No. 2 was acquired in 1958 with renovations beginning immediately. Since reopening as a museum in 1962, the former school’s campus has been home of the CCHS for more than five decades.
The primary organization dedicated to actively and comprehensively preserving the history of Chenango County, CCHS celebrates local culture – unique traditions, noteworthy residents, and unusual stories.
