NORWICH – In partnership with the Summer-At-Home Party campaign, the Chenango County Historical Society (CCHS) has been invited to raise funds to match a grant from The Pomeroy Fund for NYS History for expenses required to facilitate a safe re-opening. For every two dollars raised, The Pomeroy Fund for NYS History will grant CCHS one dollar.

In response to the on-going public health crisis, regular business hours at the CCHS have been paused since mid-March. As a result, CCHS has been using many digital and virtual resources to remain connected to the community. While there has been tremendous response to these digital initiatives, the organization faces significant financial challenges as a result of current circumstances.

The community is invited to celebrate the splendor of summer at home while financially supporting the advancement of research, education, and enjoyment of Chenango County history.

The primary organization dedicated to actively and comprehensively preserving the history of Chenango County, CCHS celebrates local culture – unique traditions, noteworthy residents, and unusual stories, CCHS recognizes that many who value the mission of the organization look forward to the Summer Barn Party, originally scheduled this season for July 31.

In the spirit of this annual favorite, CCHS is instead hosting a virtual Summer-At-Home Party.

All gifts of participation toward the CCHS Summer-At-Home Party will help overcome the operating shortfall expected this year. Any donations made between Aug. 1 and Oct. 1, 2020 will count toward the goal. Donations can be made at: TinyURL.com/CCHSSummerAtHome20.
