CHENANGO COUNTY – The second annual Wellness and Recovery Glow Run is still taking place this year, but representatives said it’s going to be a month-long virtual run with a goal of getting as many miles as the number of people lost last year due to suicide and overdoses.
According to Suicide Coalition Board Member Jamie Hagenbuch, last year’s run was a great hit, and they’re hoping by mixing things up this year it can be just as successful, even with the coronavirus.
“We’re hoping to have as many miles covered as people lost last year by suicide and substance abuse,” said Hagenbuch. “We’re hosting the event with a 5k minimum, but we’re encouraging participants to run all throughout September and submit your mile total at the end of the month.”
“We want to reach 115,600 miles total, and to do that we’ve opened this virtual 5k up to anyone, not just individuals living in Chenango County.”
She said interested individuals may sign-up at the chenangowellnessandrecovery.org website. She added that registration is $10, and glow run t-shirts are available again this year for an additional $15.
