Monaco said that the event was initially going to be an in person day of caring where participants would be matched with in person volunteer projects around the county. She said that the City of Norwich Youth Bureau was a major contributor to the event, and their assistance
"But because of COVID we just didn't feel good about doing that, having people get together and do a traditional day of caring with people congregating together. We just didn't think that was a good idea. We knew that there were other several United Ways across the country that were planning a virtual day of caring event so we said let’s give it a try and see what we can do."
