NEW BERLIN – The Village of New Berlin Board of Trustees voted to convert New Berlin’s street lights to LED lights through the NYSEG LED Street Light Conversion Program with estimated savings of nearly $10,000 for taxpayers each year.
Village of New Berlin Board Member Carol Riley said this is a project that is going to brighten up New Berlin and save taxpayers money.
“The mayor has been looking into this for about a year after NYSEG reached out to the village,” said Riley. “I don’t think they’ve given us an exact date for when the project will begin, but we’re hoping that it will be in the near future.”
Riley said beyond the estimated savings, there should be other added benefits like the potential for reduced crime and better vision for plow truck drivers early in the morning.
