NORWICH – The next phase of the Norwich Family YMCA’s reopening plan took effect on Monday, with a virtual event planned for this month along with the ability for members to reserve a basketball basket and join in karate.
According to Norwich Family YMCA Executive Director Jamey Mullen, the Y is slowly able to reopen as coronavirus numbers remain below New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo’s requirements.
Mullen said a notable change in the third phase of the Y’s reopening plan is that basketball is back, and members are now able to reserve half courts, with two people or one family per basket.
He said that individuals interested in signing up for a spot may visit norwichfamilyymca9622.setmore.com/ or call (607) 336-9622, and that karate will be back from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. Mondays and Thursday starting on October 15, but will take place without sparring.
He added that the annual Norwich YMCA Halloween Parade and Awards Ceremony is scheduled to take place virtually with winners of the events to be announced on Saturday October 31 on the Y’s Facebook page and website.
