NORWICH- On Senior Night, the four Purple Tornado seniors; Eli Craddock, Lex Genute, Andrew Mullen and Carson Thornton put together a gem of a basketball game, providing high-energy from the opening tip, which further highlighted by Norwich senior Andrew Mullen’s 23 points, and seven trifecta’s in the ball game, as NHS would defeat Greene by a final score of 71-44.
During the early minutes of the contest, Norwich and Greene traded baskets until Norwich let Mullen take over from beyond the arc. Mullen went on his own 9-2 run, advancing the Norwich lead to 15-5 at the 4:25 mark of the first period of play igniting the Norwich offense- leading the Tornado to a 16-5 lead by the end of the first eight minutes of play.
Aided by Mullen’s sharp-shooting, the Norwich offense took off. With high-energy to start off the second stanza, Norwich went on a tear. Mullen was back into his bag of tricks, drilling two additional three point balls in the first two minutes of the quarter to bring the Norwich lead to 25-9 with just over six minutes left to play in the first half of the contest. Despite Norwich finding it’s offensive rhythm and stifling defensive pressure moving like a juggernaut on the hardwood taking an early 29-11 lead with just over five minutes left to play in the half, Greene found a formula to get back into the ball game.
