BAINBRIDGE – An investigation into a fatal garage fire in Bainbridge has revealed that a man passed away last Friday following an explosion, and police said there doesn’t appear to be any foul play in the incident at this time.
According to New York State Troop C Public Information Officer Aga Dembinska, at 3:32 p.m. on Friday, March 5 New York State Police at Sidney and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to a fatal garage fire in the Town of Bainbridge.
While the fire was in an attached garage, Dembinska said the home wasn’t lost. She said unfortunately Lloyd L. Darling, 87, of Bainbridge, NY passed away in the fire.
“A trooper was dispatched by Chenango County dispatch to a report of the fire in a garage on County Highway 38 called in by people passing by the address,” said Dembinska. “One person attempted to put out the flames with fire extinguishers.”
“When the trooper arrived, he used his issued fire extinguisher to put out the main fire inside the garage.”
