NORWICH – Sonic Gardens and The Ryan Clan Band are teaming up to provide a free virtual concert to people on St. Patrick's Day.
According to Sonic Gardens Director Angelo Maiurano, Sonic Gardens is happy to announce that it will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day with The Ryan Clan Band as it streams their concert live for this year's kickoff event.
“What really got me into the studio and wanting to do this is that all my life I was around my father, who was a singer, drummer, and musicians,” said Maiurano. “I wanted to find a way to help promote local bands with talent like my father and a number of other local artists.”
“Sometimes great bands or performers don’t get the exposure they deserve, and that happens for a number of reasons, but I want to help change that.”
Maiurano said the concert will be free to view at facebook.com/sonicgardenspresents at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
“For anyone that doesn’t know about Sonic Gardens, we’re a music studio located in Norwich that’s here to help musicians who want to perform live to a small audience, have it streamed, recorded, and even edited down,” said Maiurano. “We’re really excited that the Ryan Clan is helping us kick off 2021 with a free concert, and we’re hoping everyone out there enjoys it too.”
The Ryan Clan Band Member Frank Revoir Jr., spoke about the effort, and said the band is looking forward to performing despite the pandemic.
“As you may recall, here in the State of New York, the governor shut the state down on March 16, and we all suspected something was coming but we did our normal routine,” said Revoir. “Starting in January the guys in the band, myself, and my cousins got together and started rehearsing all with the expectation that we were going to be able to perform last St. Patrick's Day.”
“We said well there’s always next year, and here we are fast forward almost a year to the day, and even though now taverns, bars, and nightclubs are open - the capacity limitations in New York don’t allow for a full irish band.”
Revoir said having a local business like Sonic Gardens who can stream the performance out to a virtual audience, record, and edit shows was really beneficial.
“You could have a solo musician perform in person, but the reality is there aren’t big St. Patrick's Day celebrations going on this year because of the pandemic,” he said. “Lately I’ve been seeing all of these virtual concerns, in fact the one that really got me to think was a local guy named Denny McCormick.”
“I received a notice that he was doing a benefit to help the Earlville Opera House, and I thought what a great idea I wonder if we could do that here.”
He said Maiurano’s business helped fill that void, and he hopes the community has a great St. Patrick’s Day.
“The thought is people can put it on their big screens, sing along, and have some fun on St. Patrick's Day,” said Revoir. “We’re looking forward to getting out there, and we hope everyone enjoys it.”
Maiurano said anyone interested in performing living can reach out to him on the Sonic Gardens facebook page for more information or call him at (607) 373-4328.
