NEDROW – The Marauders girls varsity basketball team found themselves back on the hardwood Tuesday night when they traveled to take on the Onondaga Tigers, with the Tigers advancing 62-48 on the night.
S-E fell behind in the first quarter 17-8 as the Tigers’ Arianna Baker made her presence felt early on as she tacked on 15 points in the first quarter for the hosts. But the Marauders fought back in the second quarter; outscoring the Tigers in the period 14-13. S-E’s Tessa Cole and Alexis James combined for 12 points in the stanza with both scoring six points apiece.
Onondaga came out of the halftime break on fire the Tigers’ Baker and Riley Cox leading the way on offensive combing for 12 points of their teams’ 18 points in the third quarter. But the Marauders’ tried to keep pace as Tessa Cole scored nine of her team’s 13 points in the period.
In the final period, the Tiger’s kept the visiting Marauders at arms-length as Onondaga held on for the 62-48 victory.
Tessa Cole led the Marauders in scoring on the evening adding in 21 markers with Alexis James pitching in 10 points.
Arianna Baker led Onondaga in scoring with a game-high 31 points.
