GREENE – In one week's time, Greene's football team showed it is acclimating quickly to spring football.
Coming off a last-minute loss the week before, the Trojans (1-1) evened their record Friday night blanking longtime rival Oxford, 34-0.
"We were much more physical this week," said Greene head coach Dave Gorton. "I was extremely happy with the hitting we delivered."
Gorton said he has almost had to walk on eggshells with no tackling in practice, and liberal substitutions to keep players healthy this season.
Despite that conservative approach, the Trojans had no trouble ramping up into game mode.
On its second play from scrimmage, Greene found paydirt on a big pass play.
Quarterback Josh Titus executed a perfect play-action pass, and he found Wyatt Ingraham wide-open on a 53-yard TD connection.
Greene followed that up with three straight touchdown runs from Tristan Austin.
