NORWICH - Unatego-Franklin's powerful rushing attack proved too much for Unadilla Valley Saturday night at Norwich High School.
U-F senior running back, Leo Temple, rushed for 163 yards and three scores, and added a 66-yard TD reception in a 50-30 win over the Storm (1-1).
"Unatego has about five kids that are absolute studs, and we knew they would pound it," said UV coach Art Rigas.
The Spartans grabbed a 20-0 first-quarter keyed by two passing scores, and a Temple 50-yard touchdown run.
UV hurt its own cause, Rigas said, with two turnovers that led to U-F first-half scores.
Temple added a 60-yard touchdown in the second quarter before UV found the endzone.
Blaine Rifanburg, a former quarterback, took over for Kyler Butts, who was injured in UV's win over Greene last week.
Rifanburg tossed a 39-yard TD pass to John Leonard in the second quarter, completed a 10-yard TD pass to Marcus Proskine in the third, and added a two-yard TD run in the third.
Leonard also had a rushing score hitting paydirt from 11 yards out with four minutes left in the game.
