GREENE – Greene's girls' volleyball team used strong serving to pick up its first win of the season sweeping Sidney in three games Monday night, 25-11, 25-11, 25-7.
Shelby Holt served up 17 of Greene's total 25 aces, and Penelope Antizzo added five aces as well.
"Sidney had good communication, and there were quite a few rallies," said Greene coach Shelbe Furman. "But our serving and net presence gave us the edge."
Greene (1-2) plays at Oxford tonight.

HANCOCK - Deposit-Hancock rallied from a set down to outlast Unadilla Valley in five sets this past Friday, 25-11, 28-30, 21-25, 25-13, 21-25.
Hudson Lyons had a fine all-around performance for UV (2-1) finishing with nine aces, 14 assists, and 11 digs in the defeat.
Leah Gorrell had a team-best 7 kills for UV, and Shannon Lloyd contributed six kills and six digs.
The Storm play Bainbridge-Guilford Tuesday.

UV blanks Walton
WALTON - Unadilla Valley controlled the game with its passing, and scored once in each half in a 2-0 shutout win at Walton on Monday night.
After nearly 30 minutes of scoreless play, the Storm's Deanna Peter scored her first varsity goal with 10:24 remaining in the opening half.
Over 35 minutes later, UV got a much-needed insurance goal, when, Jaiden Schrag tallied with 4:23 left.
Kalie Fernandez-Naughton picked up one save for UV to earn the shutout.
"We had solid passing in the middle, and the defense played a gritty game," said UV coach Jeanine Potter.
The Storm play their senior recognition game Tuesday when they host Afton-Harpursville.

Oneonta 81, Greene 43
GREENE - Oneonta built a big lead winning the first 10 events in a girls' swimming win over Greene on Monday.
The Trojans' Mallory Jeffery and Natalie Specht captured the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke for Greene's lone victories.
Standout performances for Greene came from Skyler Nowalk, who swam a personal-best in the 100-yard freestyle, and a season-best in the 50-yard free.
Cherish Nowalk also posted a personal-best time in the 50 free, while Jeffery added her bests of the season in the breaststroke and 100-yard freestyle.
