OXFORD - Oxford’s dormant first-half offense came alive early - and often - in the second half Thursday afternoon.
Led by Kaylin Tefft’s three-goal performance, the Blackhawks picked up their second win of the season blanking Afton, 3-0.
“We started out slow tonight,” said Oxford coach Sierra Badger. “But once we got the ball moving on offense, Kaylin was able to move the ball around the middle and put (her goals) in tonight.
“The defense really stepped up in the second half, and we got the ball out of our defensive zone.”
Tefft scored unassisted 3 1/2 minutes into the second half, then added two more quick goals in the 18th and 21st minutes of the second 40 minutes.
Madison Long made seven saves for Oxford (2-3) to earn the shutout.
