NEW BERLIN - Unadilla Valley closed out its abbreviated football season Friday night, but made strides from its first meeting with Unatego -Franklin.
U-F’s Leo Temple scored two rushing touchdowns, and quarterback Logan Utter accounted for the other two TDs in a 28-6 win over UV.
“Our kids played their hearts out, and it was a great game on defense,” said UV coach Art Rigas. “Unfortunately, we gave up a couple big plays.”
Two UV fumbles led directly to Unatego-Franklin scores, Rigas said. But, the Storm gave up 250 less yards from the first meeting between the two clubs.
“They’re a good team and deserved to win,” Rigas said. “The first game (we played them), they did what they wanted on offense. Friday night, they had to earn everything they got.”
Utter threw a 74-yard TD pass in the first quarter, and Temple scored on a two-yard TD run for the early 14-0 lead.
U-F didn’t score again until the third quarter, when, Utter scored on an 11-yard run. Temple added a 36-yard TD run in the fourth.
