OXFORD - Oxford’s girls’ soccer team has put itself in position to finish with a winning season.
With two games to play, the Blackhawks evened their record at 3-3 in the shortened Fall Sports 2 campaign blanking Walton, 1-0, on Friday.
After a scoreless first half, Oxford connected with the game’s only goal 6 1/2 minutes into the second half when, Hailey Fleury tallied off a Caylin Tefft assist.
“We were able to move the ball around on offense today, and finally put a goal in,” said Oxford coach Sierra Badger. “We had some nice shots on goal, but nothing really connected for us until the second half. Our defense really came to life early in the second half, and was able to move the ball out.”
Oxford plays at Greene Monday night.
