NORWICH - A new Dollar General will be opening in North Norwich, and construction is well underway.
Town of Norwich Clerk Supervisor Stanley Foulds, said the building of the store was approved over six months ago at a planning board meeting.
Foulds also said that at the time of the meeting, the new store would be opened as a second Norwich location. The Dollar General located in the South Plaza will remain in service.
"It's going to be good for the community," said Foulds. "It's going to create a lot of jobs."
It is unclear when the store will be finished and open for business. Officials and workers did not offer a specific date but original estimates had planned for the store to open in mid-August this summer.
