At last weekend’s annual REK Invitational, hosted by Norwich, the Purple Tornado swept the team titles with the boys racking up 236 points, while the Tornado girls scored 136.

Highlighting Norwich’s day was a record-setting performance by NHS jumper Elijah Craddock.

Craddock broke a several-decades-old school record in the triple jump, one of his two victories on the day.

Craddock shattered the previous record of 44 feet, 4 inches - set by Frank Ault several decades ago - finishing with a leap of 45 feet, 9 inches - nearly one and half feet past the previous mark.

Craddock doubled up his day adding a win in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 11 inches.

On the boys’ side, Norwich’s Julian Roque ruled the distance events taking the 800 meters, 1,600 meters, and 3,200 meters. Griffin Mills was also a double individual winner for NHS sweeping the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
