OXFORD - At Oxford Thursday, Oxford captured a nailbiter over Sidney winning 3-2.

Along with taking a forfeit from the Warriors at second doubles, perhaps the other key team point for Oxford came at third singles.

In a battle of eighth-graders, Oxford's Abby Denz outlasted Sidney's Emily Morris, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3). "There were a lot of long rallies, and outstanding points won by both girls," said Oxford coach Lance Thorne of the third singles match.

Oxford first doubles team, Natalie and Madalyn Barrows, teamed for a straight sets win to secure the victory.

Chenango Valley 6, Norwich 1

CHENANGO BRIDGE - At Chenango Valley High School Thursday, the Warriors took five of six contested matchups, and added a forfeit from Norwich to grab the Southern Tier Athletic Conference victory.

Norwich did not go home empty-handed, though.

At second singles, underclassman Emma Brooks secured the Purple Tornado's lone team point. Brooke defeated CV's Celia Trumino, 9-6.

CHENANGO BRIDGE - Norwich split six matches played on the court, but gave up the decisive team point by forfeit to fall to 0-6 on the season.

Norwich split the four singles matches as Nathan Franklin and Grayson Boyer won at third and fourth singles respectively.

Franklin blanked Andrew Clark, 9-0, while Boyer dominated Alex Fedo, 9-1.

Norwich's second doubles team, Donavan Gillen and Alex Newman, claimed a 9-4 victory over CB's Fenner Sisson and Gabriel Wright.
