Windsor takes doubleheader from Norwich
NORWICH - At Norwich High School, Windsor completed a doubleheader sweep scoring the winning run in the bottom of the fifth for an 8-7 victory on Saturday.
That tight win came on the heels of a comfortable 14-3 victory in the front end of the twinbill.
Kobe Dela Cruz and Jimmy Lindsley drove in two runs apiece for Windsor in the second game.
That offset a strong pitching performance from Norwich’s Keegan Franklin, who went the distance in the loss scattering eight hits, but was hurt by four Purple Tornado errors.
Josh Willis’ bat came alive in the second contest finishing 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and three runs batted in.
Blaine Orlando went 2-for-3 in the loss with two RBI as well.
Dylan Cappello earned the victory in the opening game for the Black Knights allowing three runs to Norwich, but helping his own cause with three RBI. Ethan Reed and Dela Cruz also drove in two runs.
Evan Sylstra and Mike Hagen drove in runs for Norwich in the 14-3 loss.

DEPOSIT - Deposit-Hancock’s eagles used a pair of four-run innings to pull away from UV-G-MU in Monday’s baseball matchup.
D-H broke a scoreless tie scoring four runs in the bottom of the third, and tacked on four more in the fifth capped by Caleb Walker’s grand slam.
Gavin Bonczkowski had two hits for UV-GMU, and Cameron Osborne plated Devon Fairchild with his team’s only run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.

Cooperstown edges Marauders
SHERBURNE - In a closely contested matchup on Monday, Cooperstown displayed slightly better overall balanced scoring, and prevailed over Sherburne-Earlville, 170-177, at Mountain Top Golf Course.
All four Cooperstown players shot in the 40 to 44 range with Max Jones carding a match-low 40.
S-E’s Andrew Fern medaled for his club shooting a 41, while Keegan Kane had the runner-up score for the hosts turning in a 44.
