NORWICH — Monday morning, members of the Norwich VFW and the Norwich American Legion gathered in West Park to honor fallen soldiers as an observance of Memorial Day.
Presented during the ceremony was a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, a moment of silence, and wreaths placed in front of the Norwich World War II monument.
Former service members placed the wreaths, and saluted the monument as a token of respect and thanks for the sacrifice of soldiers lost in battle.
