NORWICH — The beloved NBT Bank Summer Concert Series has returned for another exciting week of music. This Thursday, July 15, Asleep at the Wheel will be performing in East Park at 7 p.m.
The musicianship is more than just a band; it is a group of 80 plus members cobbled together over the years by Ray Benson, who started the band in 1970 at just 19 years old, according to the Asleep at the Wheel website.
Chenango Blues Fest officials say, "The band has constantly toured at a national level throughout it's history; with anywhere from 7-15 of the finest players Ray Benson could talk into jumping in the bus and playing a string of dates."
Asleep at the Wheel touts a western swing style, which Blues Fest officials call "a thrill to hear live."
Current COVID-19 guidelines state that vaccinated individuals may attend without masks. Those who are unvaccinated are encouraged to mask up and maintain social distancing.
In the event of inclement weather, Blues Fest officials will update their Facebook page, and send out a message to their email list. For more information, check out the Blues Fest website at www.chenangobluesfest.org.
Tune in next week for The Garcia Project.
