OXFORD - Firefighters were unable to save an Oxford home as they battled a blaze in almost unbearable heat and humidity Thursday.
The Oxford Fire Department received the call of a two-story structure fire at 208 Fred Wilcox Rd. around 4:30 p.m. But by the time trucks arrived, Oxford Fire Chief Ron Martin said they were already on the defense.
“It was fully involved upon arrival,” said Martin. “It was just too far out for us to get there in time.”
