NORWICH – The Norwich Police Department hosted the first “Cuts with Cops” event yesterday, with support from various organizations and companies. Volunteer hair stylists gave free haircuts to school children.
About 135 kids attended the event.
A number of charity organizations participated, including Helping Hands, who gave out backpacks from the Salvation Army and NYCM Insurance, as well as school supplies. The organization also provided free refreshments, such as ice pops and donated yogurt from Chobani.
The Chenango County Department of Social Services and Fidelis workers were also on the site, giving out information about their services. DSS provided information about food asstance programs, including WIC. They provided apple slices and water bottles, while Fidelis offered school supplies.
