SYRACUSE – On Monday, Sept. 13 the SUNYAC named Brockport State senior women’s tennis player, Caroline Stewart (Norwich, Norwich H.S.) as the PrestoSports Women’s Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week.
Stewart continues her unbeaten streak in singles last week. Stewart is 4-0 in the second singles slot (and (8-0 overall) this fall after winning her matchup in back-to-back matches over the weekend. In a close loss to Cortland for the Golden Eagles, Stewart won her battle 6-2, 6-4. She then dominated her matchup 6-0, 6-0 in the team’s win over Oswego the next day. She has yet to surrender a set so far this fall in her second singles role.
Stewart, a 2018 Norwich High School graduate, starred for six years on the Norwich varsity tennis team, and was a two-time New York State tournament qualifier in doubles. She teamed with Makenzie Maynard to capture the program’s first state tournament victory in the open draw.
The Golden Eagles are set to compete at the ITA Northeast Region Championships Saturday at William Smith College.
