GERMAN – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office recently executed a no-knock search warrant in the Town of German, leading to the capture of an alleged drug dealer along with numerous guns, drugs, and more than $3,600 in cash.

According to Chenango County Sheriff Ernest Cutting, Jonas M. Whaley, 36, of German was arrested after members of the Broome-Chenango-Endicott SWAT team executed a no-knock search warrant at approximately 5:30 a.m. on September 21 at a residence located at 3157 County Road 2 in the Town of German.

Cutting said police found approximately four ounces of methamphetamine along with 13 long guns, including two AR15’s with 30 round magazines and four pistols.

“This warrant was the result of a long-term investigation that started off in February of this year, and we were concerned about the information we had received describing numerous guns, which we ended up finding in the residence.”

He said several of the firearms were recovered fully-loaded with rounds in the chamber. He added that two of the guns recovered were “ghost guns,” meaning they are unserialized and untraceable firearms, along with hundreds of rounds of ammunition were recovered along with over $3,600 in cash.
