NORWICH – Chenango Arts Council is getting in the Halloween Spirit with 5 free film screenings in the month of October. Each Wednesday beginning at 7, they will join Guernsey Memorial Library to show a different Creepy Comedy in the Martin W. Kappel Theater. This will mark the third haunted film series the two have presented and the first since COVID-19 forced theaters to shut down.
“When we first started this, we knew it would get bigger and bigger” explains The Arts Council’s Mary Beth Miller. “This year, we wanted it to be extra fun, so we picked all Halloween Comedies. We’re so excited to be able to do this again, it was so missed last year.”
The Creepy Comedy Film Series will begin with Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein on October 6, 2021, followed by Transylvania 6-500 on October 13, Young Frankenstein on October 21 and finally The Nightmare Before Christmas on October 27. All movies will be accompanied by free popcorn and pamphlet filled with fun Hollywood Trivia about that night’s feature.
Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 7pm, The Arts Council’s 27 West Main Street location itself will be the star of the movie when the documentary After School: A Haunting Investigation at Chenango Arts Council debuts. In it, the paranormal investigation team Til Death? Investigations explore the history of the building and use spirit boxes and other technologies to explore potential ghostly activity. The cast and crew are David Patrick, Nikki Larry, TJ Larry, Amber Jean, Ed Duvall and Executive Producer Melinda Marshall. Following the premiere, Chenango Arts Council and Til Death? Investigations will hold a question and answer session and walk through of featured areas of the building.
