NORWICH — Local dance troupe High Kicks and Broomstix will be performing this Saturday, October 16 at noon, as part of the ongoing Saturdays in the Park with Chobani events.

The group is known for dressing up in witch costumes and doing dances to raise money for local organizations. Recently, they performed at the 6th annual Witching Good Time event to help raise money for the Norwich Youth Bureau.

On Saturday, their fundraising efforts will be geared toward the Chenango County SPCA, according to Norwich B.I.D. Executive Committee member Mindy Chawgo.

"They performed a couple years ago with us and then took last year off. So they approached me this year and wanted to do another dance to benefit the Chenango County SPCA again this year," said Chawgo. "They did wonderful last time."

The performance will last approximately 30 to 45 minutes, Chawgo said. Then the witches will be meandering through Saturday in the Park.

"It would probably be about a half an hour to 45 minutes like little performance," she said. "So I think they talk a little bit and then do some dances, and then they kind of wander around Saturday in the Park, which is so fun."

She added that High Kicks and Broomstix members encouraged attendees to come dressed up as well, and they are welcome to join in on the dances.

"They were encouraging that on the phone the other day, that if people wanted to come down and participate and learn some of the dances," Chawgo explained. "They were always looking for people to join their group as well, on like a permanent basis, so I think that's kind of neat."
