NORWICH — The YMCA Halloween Parade is scheduled for this Saturday, October 30. Line-up for participants begins at 10:15 a.m., and the parade will start at 11 a.m. and progress down Broad Street.
After the parade, there will be an awards ceremony in West Park to announce the winners of the costume and float contests. Raffle tickets will also be handed out for a chance to win door prizes.
The YMCA Halloween Parade Line-up is as follows:
Beebe Avenue: Norwich City Police Department, Chenango County Sheriff's Department, Norwich Fire Department, Norwich EMS, and Perry Browne Intermediate School.
Francis Avenue: Holy Family School, Brian Doliver for Mayor, Progressive Dental, and the Brown Family.
Conkey Avenue: Stanford Gibson Primary School, SUNY Morrisville Liberty Partnership Program, Trojan House Deli and Catering, Brian Wessels for Chenango County Clerk, and Friends of North Park.
Eaton Avenue: Norwich YMCA Nursery School, Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, High Kicks and Broomstix Dance Program, and the Darragh-Oles Family.
Front Street Sidewalk: All others interested in walking in the parade.
Participants are encouraged to write a number of their choice on an 8.5 by 11 inch sheet of paper, and pin it to their costume. This will allow judges to differentiate between participants for the costume contest.
Costume contest categories are funniest costume, most original, spookiest costume, cutest costume, and the judges award.
Float contest categories are the non-school float award, the family costume/float award, the school float/participation award, and the business float award.
