NORWICH — The much-anticipated holiday parade is back and better than ever. The annual Parade of Lights will take place this Saturday, November 27, at 6 p.m.
After organizing the parade for the last several decades, the Pennysaver and The Evening Sun have handed the reins over to the Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) and Chobani.
Chobani will be sponsoring the parade for the first time this year, and the BID has taken over as organizer, with assistance from the Norwich Family YMCA. The parade will feature approximately 50 participating groups, who will march down Broad Street. Local vendors will be handing out hot cocoa and coffee to spectators during the parade as well.
"We wanted it to still be here in the community, so Chobani stepped up to sponsor it, and the YMCA is also helping with the logistics of it, which was great. So everybody’s kind of stepped up to help," said BID Board Member Mindy Chawgo. "I'm very excited. I'm very very proud of it."
