CAMILLUS — The Purple Tornado girls basketball team dropped a 47-41 decision to the West Genesee Wildcats in the More Than Just A Game Tournament on Tuesday afternoon.
The visiting Tornado held a 30-19 advantage headed into the halftime break, thanks in large part to nine first half points from Norwich senior Margaret Dougher. Notably, seven different Tornado players each recorded two or more points over the first 16 minutes of play.
In the second half, the host Wildcats turned up their offense and severely limited the Tornado opportunities on defense. Over the final two quarters, West Genesee outscored Norwich 27-11, while also not allowing a Purple Tornado field goal in the third period. For Norwich, the diverse scoring once seen in the opening half dwindled, to where only three different NHS cagers recorded a point after halftime.
