NORWICH — On Friday, December 31, Brian Doliver was sworn in as the City of Norwich Mayor, surrounded by colleagues, friends, and family.
During his term, the new mayor plans to work closely with other organizations and departments to make the city even better. Some of his plans include establishing a flood committee, working with small businesses to help them thrive in the area, exploring the possibility of placing a school resource officer in the City of Norwich schools, and more.
Former Norwich Mayor Shawn Sastri said he's been meeting with Doliver to prepare him for the role, but added it was an easy task as Doliver was already familiar with the duties of mayor.
"Brian has a good understanding of the role of the mayor, and some of the job duties. He's familiar with it so it made my transition very easy," he said. "I wish him the best of luck, and that if he needs anything, I will be there to support him."
Doliver, who has served as Ward 2 Alderman on the City of Norwich Common Council for eight years, echoed the sentiment, stating that he felt prepared to take on the role thanks to his experience.
