EDMESTON - Mount Markham blitzed Oxford for 34 points in the opening quarter, and cruised to the Edmeston Tournament title on Thursday.
The Mustangs had seven different players make threes, and seven players scored at least eight points led by Shaun Jones’ 12.
“They couldn’t miss (from the field),” said Oxford coach Booker Davis.
The loss came one day removed from the Blackhawks (1-7) picking up their first win of the season on Wednesday beating the host Panthers.
Oxford had its best first half of the season taking a 33-11 lead into the half.
Ethan Fleury scored 11 of his game-high 17 points in the first two quarters, while John Rovente and Donovan Rickard scored seven each.
Rickard added 11 points in the win, and Nolan Dodzweit added 10.
Fleury and Troy Simpson were each selected to the all-tournament team.
