BOYS' BASKETBALL
OXFORD - Unlike the first meeting that went to the wire, Morris had the second meeting with Oxford well in hand by the end of the third quarter.
Scott Murphy led the Mustangs with 25 points, and Jon Child added 11 in a 53-42 win over the Blackhawks on Monday night.
"Morris played a lot better tonight," said Oxford coach Booker Davis, whose club lost to Morris by two points last month. "They put us away in the third quarter."
Murphy had 17 points in the first half as Morris built a 30-17 lead. The lead grew to 48-27 by the end of the third as Murphy put in eight points, while Child and Garrett Aikens netted two buckets apiece.
"Murphy could not be stopped," Davis said. "He was a one-man wrecking crew half the time."
Ethan Fleury led Oxford (2-9) with 11 points, while John Rovente and Troy Simpson chipped in nine apiece.
