EARLVILLE — The Earlville Opera House (EOH) is celebrating 50 years as an incorporated nonprofit arts center in 2022, and we are celebrating the many talents of past showing visual artists!
EOH is home to three gallery spaces, the East Gallery, West Gallery, and the Arts Café, which annually present between 12 to 15 solo exhibitions of regional and national contemporary visual artists representing all media, and we host the coveted yearly Quilt Show. This year, we’re hosting one special collective exhibit combining and celebrating the past beautiful creations that have highlighted our walls.
Our “50th Anniversary Retrospective Gallery Exhibit, 1972 - 2022” will open on Saturday, March 19, 1 to 3 p.m., and run through October 22. Artists who have previously shown at the EOH are welcome to submit one piece of artwork to be displayed throughout the year. Artwork can be for sale or not, with the EOH receiving 30 percent for sold work.
Artwork must be delivered by March 10, with pick up from October 25 to November 5. Drop off and pick up hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays from 12 to 3 p.m., and by appointment.
Artists are asked to fill out a short form, available on our website at www.earlvilleoperahouse.com, or in the office upon arrival, stating artist's name, title of work, medium, dimensions of artwork, date of work/activity, price if for sale, a short biography and artist statement, and a few sentences regarding their past experiences and memories with the Opera House. There is no entry fee.
For 50 years, Earlville Opera House Multi Arts Center has been a mecca for arts and culture in rural Central New York. Housed in a restored, historic late-19th-century structure, the Opera House offers classes for children and adults; exhibits the work of local, regional, and national artists; and stages performances ranging from community theatre to nationally renowned musicians.
We’d love your participation in our robust visual arts programming whether you showed decades ago or just recently! Our Galleries are an integral part of the multi-arts programming offered at Earlville Opera House and exhibits are always free and open to the public. Whenever possible, the galleries serve as a tool for arts education.
The Earlville Opera House is located at 18 East Main Street in the charming Village of Earlville, NY and is handicap accessible. Vaccine proof required at door, masks worn inside. Please check our website for the latest updates, and for further information on our programs and services, and like us on Facebook!
Events are made possible, in part, with public funds from New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor of New York and the New York State Legislature, and through the generosity of EOH members. Special thanks to Golden Artist Colors for their support of our Visual Arts Program.
