NEW BERLIN – New Berlin Scout Troop 61 and Cub Scout Pack 61 hosted a "Pizza Party Gym Nite" at the U.V. school on February 16th, that attracted 26 people.

Baden-Powell Council provided a “Safe Archery” inflatable. The elementary school principal, Katie Hansen, brought out the parachute. Scoutmaster Phillips led relay games. NY Pizzeria baked the pizza.

Troop 61 put up camping displays including a tent, a pretend campfire with s'mores, knot tying, camp stove cooking, and all 4th and 5th grade students were invited for a fun time as the cub scouts added some new members to its ranks.

Camp Kingsley in Rome, NY hosted the "Blizzard Adventure" February 25-27.

New Berlin Scout Troop 61 had great snow, great food, and great fun. Our troop learned snowmobile maintenance in the mornings and went cross country skiing in the afternoons. Evening campfires were disappointing as we lost the "ugly sweater" competition for the first time. Tent camping was easy as the temperature stayed above zero this year.

It appears as though New Berlin Scout Troop 61 was the only troop in Chenango County to achieve the "2021 Gold Journey to Excellence Award.” Patches were awarded February 16th for each member to wear proudly.

All boys ages 11 to 17 are welcome to join New Berlin Scout Troop 61 hosted by the Frank H. Arnold American Legion Post #348. Check out our 2022-2023 calendar of events at www.troop61newberlin.com
